Wild ADK Moment: Moose Casually Strolls Warrensburg Neighborhood
Wild Sighting!
You never know what you’ll see when you’re driving through the North Country — but even seasoned Adirondack locals had to do a double-take at this one.
A video posted by The Crossroads, the beloved country store in Warrensburg, has people buzzing after a young moose was spotted casually strolling through a neighborhood like it owned the place.
The short clip, about a minute long, shows the lanky creature trotting between homes while a couple of awestruck onlookers narrate from off-camera.

“Moose sighting in the Adirondacks!” one voice says, followed by another excited, “Oh my gosh, right here in Warrensburg!”
“I didn’t know we had moose in the Adirondacks,” one woman admits. “That is so cool.”
Moose sightings in Upstate New York aren’t unheard of, but they’re still rare enough to cause a stir.
How Rare is It?
According to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, between 400 and 700 moose live in the Adirondacks, but seeing one in person is like winning the wildlife lottery.
Whether it was looking for breakfast, a buddy, or just tired of the woods, the moose gave Warrensburg residents an unforgettable morning.
If you blinked, you might have missed it — but thanks to The Crossroads, the proof is on video taken over the weekend; the Adirondacks are still as wild and wonderful as ever.
Have You Ever Seen a Moose in New York?
I’ve never been lucky enough to spot one myself, although I’m always watching the treeline. But plenty of New Yorkers have stories to tell. If you’ve ever had your own moose encounter in the Adirondacks (or closer to home), you know it’s something you don’t forget.
