New Same-Day Surgery Center Is Coming To The Capital Region
New York's Capital Region just can't stop growing. The population keeps expanding year by year, and unfortunately, that means more folks who need healthcare.
While Albany is happy to admit anyone that needs help, we are running out of space to accommodate everyone who needs help. Well, not for much longer.
Same-Day Surgery Coming to Catskill
On September 29th, 2025, the Albany Med Health System broke ground on a new project in Catskill that will overhaul the medical services offered in Greene and Columbia Counties. The services at Greene Medical Arts will be expanded, bringing Same-Day surgery to the area for the first time.
The Greene Medical Arts was acquired in 1991 by Columbia Memorial Health, and since then, has been home to different specialty clinics. This new project appears to be their magnum opus, bringing quick, state-of-the-art medical care to the southern arm of the Capital Region.
What Will Be Added in Renovations?
Same-Day Surgery is no easy task to accomplish, but the renovated Greene Medical Arts Facility is undergoing extensive renovations to ensure the greatest possible care will be given. The now facility will include four state-of-the-art operating rooms, two procedure rooms, an advanced cardiac care center, and other specialty services not currently in operation in either county.
The projects costs around $25 Million, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Greene Medical Arts will remain open and operational as the project is in progress. Funding comes from state grants, local philanthropists, and the Albany Med Health System.
