A few years ago, if someone asked you who or what "Jelly Roll" was, you'd have to think long and hard to come up with an answer that wasn't food or donut-related.
That's changed quite a bit over the last few years, but who could have predicted the whirlwind success of country music's newest superstar, Jelly Roll?
Jelly Roll went from a raspy-voiced tattooed rapper to one of the industry's biggest stars, and last night was a culmination of all of his tremendous success. Touring with Alexandra Kay and Warren Zeiders, Jelly brought the "Beautifully Broken Tour" to a sold-out MVP Arena in Albany, and he didn't disappoint.
For 90 minutes, Jelly Roll preached, danced, drank, smoked a little, shouted out fans, and sang...and man, did he sing.
Jelly Roll opened with "I Am Not Okay" and immediately had the sold-out crowd eating out of the palm of his welcoming hands. Midway through the show, he broke out a few covers, including "Friends in Low Places" and Green Day's "Good Riddance," while closing the show with "Save Me."
Jelly Roll says that country music and its incredible fans may have saved him, but it may have been the other way around to the many in attendance.
