Whether you loved or hated going to school, lunch period was always the best. So which food was king of the hill? Here's what Capital Region folks had to say.

I love a good walk down memory lane. Most of the time, for my at least, memories are tied together by food. I think maybe it's because of all your senses at the time it's happening? Maybe not. I probably should have paid more attention in school.

Speaking of school, one of my favorite times of the day was lunch. Not only were you finally allowed to eat, but it was a great time to hangout with your friends and goof off after being stuck inside the classrooms all morning.

While some of the school lunch items may not have been so great (I hated spaghetti day) others were standouts in culinary design. I'll never forget when instead of tacos my school rolled out "make your own nachos." That was literally heaven. We all have our favorites when it comes to school cafeteria food, but which one is the champ all these years later?

Pizza

Overwhelming the Capital Region has said that they were here for the pizza. While I have to say school pizza wasn't my favorite, I know plenty of other schools where they ordered pizza from places and I was so jealous.

For me, school pizza always kind of seemed like Elio's, but a way downgraded version. No hate on Elio's either. I used to live on that stuff, but it wasn't going to get my vote.

No, for yours truly my favorite thing was probably the big chicken patty or chicken nuggets. I could eat that all day long. Also the rice with gravy. *chef's kiss*
