Blackmore Expected to Join Deep Purple On Stage Tonight In New York
Ritchie Blackmore announces his return to Deep Purple for the first time in 30 years! The guitar god who created the legendary riffs for Smoke On the Water, Highway Star, Burn, and Woman from Tokyo, to name a few, will perform with his former band tonight in New York.

On Tuesday August 11th Ritchie Blackmore and his wife Candice Night took to their Instagram page for a live conversation with fans. During that feed Blackmore announced that he would be playing with Deep Purple tonight.
There is something we wanted to mention about tomorrow night. Well, it is a secret and I don't want anybody to know, but I'm probably get up and do an encore with the band, Deep Purple. But you can't tell anybody, and I know that this is gonna be kept a secret. And will it? I suppose so. - Ritchie Blackmore
Ritchie goes on to explain how this rare occasion came to be. Blackmore stated that he reach out to In Gillan, Deep Purple's lead singer, to see how he would feel about Ritchie joining the band for one song on an encore for old times sake.
Ian Gillan seemed to love the idea and so did the other members of Deep Purple. Blackmore is indicating that this is likely a one-time opportunity and he will most likely only do 1 song.
