While we still have many great places to see a concert there are a few locations that will always be near and dear to our hearts and always send us down memory lane.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. It can take you back to places that you might not be able to visit anymore. All we're left with are the memories that we made while in the moment experiencing it.

One thing that the Capital Region loved were concert venues. We've never been short on amazing places to watch our favorite bands play. While times have changed, people are still going to see live music. The sad part is that some of the places to see those live shows are no longer among us. Whether it was by some sort of accident, they shut down, or moved locations, some of our favorite venues are no more.

Lucky for us the internet exists and it gives us the ability to look back at some of these locations thanks to urban explorers posting videos of the abandoned locations.

Saratoga Winners

It was a sad day when Saratoga Winners burned down. I saw many rock shows there back in the day including Coheed and Cambria before they blew up and are now selling out amphitheaters and arenas.

Other venues that are no longer with us are the Starlite Music Theater and Northern Lights/Upstate Concert Hall. I saw my first ever concert at the Starlight back in the late 1998. It was Weird Al Yankovic and I will forever remember that show.

I honestly don't think I can even count the amount of shows I saw at Upstate Concert Hall. Anthrax, Korn, Buckcherry, Dropkick Murphys, Drowning Pool and so many others. I do know that my last concert there was in 2020 right before COVID shut everything down. That was Reel Big Fish.

Here's A Look at what Upstate Concert Hall Looks Like Today

Once an iconic music venue, the space now sits empty.
