Finally An Update On The Future Of Albany’s Central Warehouse
After years of this building one of the biggest eyesores in the Capital Region we finally know what is going to happen with this building.
For the last few years the Central Warehouse has been a topic of discussion in Albany. From the building literally falling apart to the rumors of who or what is inside, this building will forever be a part of Albany's history.
Now, after a year or so of biding on the building we have a buyer and it looks like they're going to demolish this thing once and for all.
Late of Friday WNYT reported that Albany County had officially won the bid to purchase the Central Warehouse. Dan McCoy said they plan to get rid of the building and replace it with something that everyone can enjoy. Personally, a Cane's Chicken would still be a great fit for the location but I have a feeling they have other things in mind.
When will it come down?
McCoy said that they're going to begin taking bids on the demolition and that it will happen by the Spring or the Summer. He said that the first thing that needs to happen is they need to get rid of the asbestos inside the building. Once they safely do that the demo can begin.
This is a HUGE step in the right direction for Albany as they work to improve things around the city.
Central Warehouse was built in 1927 but has been abandoned since 1990.
While we're all excited about it coming down, you have to admit that it will be a little sad once once it's gone.
