Due to some contamination certain chocolate bars sold in New York have put those with some allergies at high risk.

There's never any good reason for a product to be recalled. It seems like we have so many recalls these days and it really makes you worry about buying a lot of these processed foods.

Now I understand that accidents happen, but when they forget to mention certain ingredients on a package that can lead to a serious allergic reaction that's a bit of a problem.

That appears to be the issue of the latest recall for Marabous Swedish chocolate bars. According to Newsweek the FDA has recalled the candy because it contain undeclared almonds, wheat and other nuts.

I can safely say that I don't know if I have seen these particular chocolate bars here in the Capital Region but I have seen them in New York City where they are primarily sold.

Those of you who may have gone to NYC recently and gone to a BonBon store you could have picked up this particular chocolate bar.

Here is a list of all the BonBon stores in the NYC area:

  • 130 Allen St
  • 1220 Lexington Ave
  • 705 Driggs Ave (pictured above)

The bars in question will be made with sea salt and have the words "havvsalt" on them. Just beware if you happen to have any of those goodies laying around.

Perhaps one day we can live without fear of allergic reactions, but unfortunately it is not today, so stay safe out there!
