New York Giants’ Coach ‘Hanging By a Thread’ as Players Begin to Lose Trust
There are countless questions that I have about the New York Giants right now, but this one is arguably the most pressing: what happened to Brian Daboll?
Daboll's fall from grace over the past season-plus borders on the impossible. He was the 2022 AP NFL Coach of the Year as a rookie, and was heralded as the savior of a franchise that desperately needed stability in key leadership positions.
That said, from the moment the 2023 season began for the Giants, Daboll's teams have struggled immensely, and his reputation has worsened considerably. Now, two weeks into the 2024 season, it is fair to say that Daboll's "seat" is getting hot in New York.
Don't believe me? Check out what ESPN's Jordan Raanan said about the Giants' head coach on his podcast earlier this week:
It's been said that, within a sports team, winning cures everything. While that may be true, the inverse of this is also true. Losing makes everything worse, and the Giants simply cannot buy a win right now.

New York played well enough to win in their most recent game against the Washington Commanders, but when kicker Graham Gano went down with an injury, the team did not have a backup plan ready.
They lost the game by three points, and could've desperately used a *competent* kicker in that game.
The list of complaints against Daboll and the coaching staff have been growing steadily. Play-calling inconsistencies, personnel issues and short-tempered answers to journalists have plagued the Giants' third-year head coach since the beginning of the 2023 season.
I firmly believe that Brian Daboll is a good football coach, and may be a successful head coach at some point in his career. That said, we're quickly approaching a point of no return in New York, and his time with the Giants may be coming to a close.
