Buffalo Bills now most expensive to attend in NFL

According to a recent study, the Buffalo Bills now rank as the NFL's most expensive team to watch live. With family game-day costs peaking at over $2,100, according to a report from Action Network.

The digital sports outlet analyzed over 500,000 tickets across all 32 NFL teams. They factored in stadium food, drinks, parking, and any other game day expenses to determine the average cost for a family of 4 to attend a game. Highmark Stadium ranked at the top of the list at $2,193.95, the highest total for any team in the league.

This is the fourth time the Action Network has run this study, and spokesperson Kathy Morris said the Bills' new stadium is the clear reason behind the sudden jump in prices.

"The new stadium, I think, is definitely what has propelled Highmark to the top," Morris said. "It's something we see across all sports teams, where we see a team move up and it's an interesting jump, why? And we look and it's the new stadium driving that."

Naturally the tickets themselves, sourced through Ticketmaster, make up most of the cost, but concessions certainly aren't cheap in their own right. Morris also said with a slight chuckle "They also do have some pretty expensive hot dogs, so maybe eat beforehand."

The other reason for prices skyrocketing is fewer season tickets available on the open market, causing many fans to be pushed toward resale prices.

Buffalo isn't the only team seeing the results of a new stadium. The Raiders and 49ers, both playing in newer stadiums, also ranked among the league's top 10 most expensive. Some fans are even exploring other options, such as traveling to see the Bills play the Jets at Metlife.  While it is quite the drive, it cuts the price almost in half.
